Dear Rockets,
Yes
it’s the Winter season and isn’t it lovely and warm? NO
With
the summer season just finished at Knox it was great to see so many players and
parents enjoying basketball. Well done
for another successful season.
Congratulations
to all teams that made finals. We had
eleven teams that went through to the Grand Final, U10/1A, U10/3D, U12/1A,
U12/2B, U12/4CR, U14/1B, and U16/3CR girls and U10/2C, U12/1BR, U14/2BR and
U20/1B boys teams. We had four teams
winning their grand final and seven runners up. I hope everyone involved enjoyed the day. I look forward to congratulating you at our
AGM, Presentation Day.
Once
again I would like to thank Coaches and Team Managers for giving time for their
teams, and parents for their passion and cheering.
Please
do not forget that the 23rd of June is our AGM and Presentation Day. It starts at 3pm at the Community
Centre. Come along and celebrate the
children’s achievements.
I
would like to take this opportunity to welcome all new players and parents to
our great club this season. We have had quite a few new players join the
club in the last number of months.
Good luck.
As
this is my last newsletter as President, I would like to thank the Committee
for their support over the last two years.
Some Committee Members are stepping down from their positions and I
would like to wish those people the best of luck. Others are staying on and taking different roles. I would likae to invite any parents to
nominate for a position on the Committee and help with the running of the
club. Nomination forms will be sent out
in the mail.
Yours
truly,

FLOOR SWEEPING
- KNOX
Floor sweeping
between games is now mandatory to ensure that the court surface is a
safe environment for the players.
In the past it has been left to the discretion of the team
managers or coaches,
as to whether it is in need or
not, but as this is not working, we must now advise all teams that they are to
sweep one half of their court before the game is played.
We will allow a period of time to ensure this is happening,
however if it does not occur we will be asking the referees to start the clock
at the start time but to delay the start of the game until the court has been
swept.
As the coach and team manager are already busy organising
the players for the game, this is a job for those parents who are only there to
watch - to grab the broom and do a quick sweep at the end of the court
where your players are warming up.
I hope teams heed this advice as we do not want the players
to lose any playing time, and we do want
them to play in a safe environment.

Friend |
Having been a player, only for the last 28
years, I now understand and appreciate the
challenges and excitement coaching has to
offer and I LOVE IT!
This has largely been due to a wonderful
group of girls who love the game and who have been a pleasure to train. They have worked extremely hard to improve
their skills and gel as a team and great friends. Their dedication has been reflected in a brilliant performance
over the
season, starting off a little shaky, but
quickly improving to finally end up 3rd for the season, winning the semi final
but being knocked out in the preliminary final. Considering that we had a number of girls who had never played
before, I think that they performed superbly!!!
Well done Jenna, Claire, Suzi, Morgan,
Lynsey, Sarah & Elly - You have made this a very memorable season.
