Our coaching of this team has been a joint
partnership with Carolyn Rowland doing most of the training and myself coaching
on match night. With a team of really
enthusiastic 8 year olds, we started the season with only 2 boys having played
before. I can safely say now that they
all look like they know a fair bit about basketball. Not only are they all starting to score goals, their defence is
awesome!!! Are manning up and getting
in front, without being reminded all
the time, and we are beginning to see less travel and double dribbles. Every team member has improved and we are
proud to see really happy faces, all the time, on and off the court. I realise it is non-competitive, but it
can’t go without saying that they have also won about 90% of their games. Great efforts all round for the season. Well done, boys!

Our
very enthusiastic under 8 boys are doing very well. They are winning a few and
losing
a few. The boys are training very well,
working on their skills and more
importantly
, how to play as a team, and they are using this in their games.
Recently
we had an exceptional game, although we only lost by one point in the last few
seconds, it was a very high scoring game.
We only had 5 players on the day with all of them putting in 100% the
whole game, with some great passages of team play, and
sensational
defence.
I
feel we are very lucky this season as we only have 6 players in the team, which
gives them much more court time, and
they will learn more on the court than sitting on the bench.
Keep
up the good work guys. You are doing a
great job and I hope your parents and the club
are as proud of you as we are.
P.S. On the 23/2/02 we won 28 to 4 against
Olinda.
